Relief from back pain could be in your future. Dr. Eric Winder has experience helping thousands of patients get that relief, through gentle manual therapy and active rehab care.
The key to relief is understanding the cause. Old injuries, postural stresses, deconditioning of muscles, improper footwear, and spinal degeneration are a few of the factors that can cause spinal pain. A person suffering from back pain might have one or several causes of their pain, and their care must be tailored to their situation. An expertly applied course of treatment can help many kinds of back pain, from a simple muscle strain injury or postural stress, to spinal stenosis or disc injury. Below are some case stories illustrating successful treatment of low back pain.

“I came for 1) muscle pain after having my left knee replaced three years ago, 2) pain and discomfort after having number 6 and 7 [neck] vertebrae replaced one year ago, with loss of movement in my right hand. Therapy and exercises and pain pills did not work. Since Dr. Winder has worked on me I can walk better with minimum pain, also I can go up and down steps without the fear of falling. The muscle pain is gone too. For my shoulder and neck the pain has lessened dramatically and I have regained almost all of the movement of my right hand. In conclusion, I was very doubtful the doctor could help when I came but all I can do now is brag about how good he is.”

“I have had nine treatments with Dr. Winder, and started with a pain level of 10 (on a zero to 10 scale). Today I am totally pain free at a zero level. This experience has been well beyond my expectations. I was told by the pain management clinic at the Cleveland Clinic that I would have to live with this pain the rest of my life. I am so grateful for the gift of finding Dr. Winder and his expertise in manual medicine.”

“As a flutist and conductor of flute choirs, I tend to have chronic neck pain. This past April, though, it seemed more severe and didn’t just go away with time as it had before. After the first visit I was amazed at the improvement and have continued to feel better. In a matter of about 3 weeks I have gone from constant discomfort to being pain free.”

“I came in for severe pain in my thighs. I had it for about five years. I believe it was the result of a fall on the sidewalk. It was so bad I could not walk more than 15 feet without sharp pain in my legs and back. I had Xrays, an MRI, physical therapy, and a regimen of exercises, I have been to medical doctors, sports medicine doctors and several chiropractors, without any lasting results.
In less than 8 treatments (4 weeks) I can walk and exercise almost pain free. I believe a few more treatments is all it will take. After 5 years of pain, no exercise and a large weight gain, I am on my way to being a healthier person – thanks to Dr. Winder and his treatment methods.”

“I first came in the beginning of March 2002. My condition was chronic back pain, which began when I was a high school soccer player. The condition had stayed with me throughout high school, college, and beyond. The pain was so severe at times I could not stand up on my own and I have no idea what the root cause was. A friend recommended I see Dr. Winder. I couldn’t believe than I needed no more than four visits to start mending a problem that has been with me nearly a decade. The exercises worked tremendously and the gentle manual therapy that Dr. Winder implemented reversed the “domino effect” that can come with untreated spinal injuries.”
– Val (Soccer Alum)
“At the time that I consulted I had just begun working as a chiropractor and was rapidly developing moderate to severe daily pain in both forearms as a result of adjusting patients. Some days, the pain was so intense I couldn’t write a chart note. I had worked with an orthopedist, a physical therapist, half a dozen chiropractors. I had one treatment that helped my shoulder for about a year. No treatments provided relief for my neck and low back.
Dr. Winder treated me once weekly for 9 visits. At visit 5, I thought I noticed an improvement. By visit 8, I nearly lost the desire to “self-manipulate” my neck and my low back pain was 80% better. By visit 9, my arm pain was 80% better. For one month now since my last treatment, I have been completely free of arm, shoulder and spine pain.
Perhaps the high-light of my experience was having my expectations exceeded: consulting for a chronic shoulder and receiving 100% improvement in my neck, low back, arms and shoulder. Thanks, Dr. Winder!”
– Dr. Brian Corlett (Chiropractor)
“I had severe pain in my back and neck. Two years ago is when it started and just got slowly worse. I took a bad fall and a hit on the head to start with. I had a job that required lifting which did more damage. I had trouble getting up from lying down or sitting. I would almost fall down with the pain. I just thought maybe I had arthritis and would have to learn to live with it so at first I didn’t seek help.
Even though I had a lot of pain I still continued to exercise. I couldn’t walk far without being in severe pain so I couldn’t do a lot of cardiovascular workout. Now I am able to do 50 minutes without pain. I can get out of bed and walk down the hall without holding on to the wall. I don’t feel as though I’m going to fall over. Life is so much more enjoyable!!! Thank you Dr. Winder!”
– Rhonda (Gardener)
“I came to Dr. Eric because I was having pain in my shoulder and trouble breathing when I played softball or swam. My mom took me to my pediatrician, and he said to rest my shoulder, and take it easy when I felt I couldn’t breathe. My shoulder kept hurting and my breathing did not improve. My pitching wasn’t as good, and I was not able to keep up with my teammates while swimming. I was getting frustrated because I wasn’t getting better. After coming to see Dr. Eric, and doing the exercises he told me to do, my shoulder felt so much better and my pitches got faster. I could also breathe easier and had my best times in my swim meets. Dr. Eric’s treatments didn’t hurt at all, and they made me feel better.”
– Jennifer (Swimmer)

“After just 4 treatments I feel fabulous. As a dance instructor my back is very important to my career. I have been able to do movements that I haven’t done in years. My back pain hasn’t bothered me since my last visit. The results are amazing and I thank Dr. Winder for all his help. Next time I will follow up quickly if the pain re-occurs instead of being in pain for months and months!!”
– Monica (Dance Instructor)
“More energy than I’ve felt in years!”
– Marjorie (Active Volunteer)
“I found Dr. Eric after suffering for years with chronic chest pain. I had gone to my primary care physician and traditional chiropractors. I was prescribed pain pills, had x-rays, stress tests, etc. and was diagnosed with anxiety and prescribed anti-anxiety medication. I continued to experience the chest pain and could no longer function in my profession. I used alcohol to relieve the pain while still taking anti-anxiety medication – not my smartest choice, as I lost my job and ended up in rehab! After rehab, I was referred to Dr. Winder by a friend. I couldn’t believe the relief I felt after a few visits, and continued to improve until, after about a month, all of my chest pain disappeared. I feel better than I have felt in years – I only wish I had found Dr. Eric sooner!”
